Excellent belly dance teacher on Oahu
Jean is the best teacher to learn the techniques of belly dance. Every dancer needs a strong foundation and Jean provides it 100%. Jean can break down any movement to help the student learn the move. With Jean's instructions and practice - anyone can bellydance and look good doing it! I remember when I first started and how frustrating learning the basics could be - I would encourage those interested to stick it out for 6 months and then decided if belly dancing is for you. Come join our classes! We have fun and help each other out!! - kimatra , posted 06/12/08

Jean Raks!
I've been a "student" of Jean Yanagawa off and on for many, many years! I have taken classes from almost every bellydance teacher here in Hawaii and must say that Jean is "The very Best " at thoroughly explaining, breaking down and executing bellydance moves! I would take videos and DVDs to class and ask her to figure out how to do "that" specific move that the dancer is doing and she will always come through!
I also LOVE taking her "Shakira Workshops" that she periodically teaches at the Honolulu Club! They are so much fun to take, easy enough even for someone who has never bellydanced before, but also some challenging "cool" moves for the more experienced dancer.

Best Instructor
I'd definitely recommend classes with Jean (whether you are a beginner or advance dancer). She's the best in Hawaii when it comes to learning the proper techniques. She's able to analyze each move and to break it down so anyone can perform it. Class is always fun and challenging. Definitely a must! - Cindy , posted 04/02/08
